PRA stands for Pre-Receival Advice and it replaces the ERA. TridentGLOBAL Pre-Receival Advice (PRA) software enables the successful transmission and receipt of Pre-Receival Advice (PRA ) messages to stevedores in order to obtain a cargo acceptance. In essence it is an electronic system that approves the container transport to the wharf. The fact that the Pre-Receival Advice (PRA) details can be processed electronically reduces errors.
The Bill of Lading is the most important document associated with the movement of goods by sea. The Bill of Lading is a receipt for the goods, evidence of the transport contract between the shipper and the shipowner, and a document of titles to the goods. The shipping company will not normally release the Bill of Lading until the goods have been loaded on board and the vessel has departed from the port of loading; the exception being when the shipper requires a "Received for Shipment" Bill of Lading.
A documentary letter of credit is a document that contains the terms of the contract agreed between the parties. This is to ensure that the requirements specified in the purchase order are met prior to the bank releasing payment to the exporter. This may include delivery time, quality, payment terms, independent third party testing of goods etc. An accepted Letter of Credit commits the providing bank to meet the payment in place of the buyer and then to recover payment from the buyer. The banks' role is to act as collection agents, dealing exclusively in documents rather than goods. They ensure that the customer's instructions are executed and that the "documents" listed, eg bill of lading, are presented to the bank by the supplier in exchange for payment.
EFI stands for Electronic Forwarding Instructions. The Forwarding Instruction is simply the shipper's letter of instruction. The TridentGLOBAL export documentation software can provide your electronic forwarding instructions (EFI's) directly from your system to the shipping lines with INTTRA or BabelBridge. These portals provide a seamless connection between exporters and shipping lines for the delivery of FI's.
An Air Waybill is a non-negotiable consignment note used to cover the transport of goods as air cargo.
A house air waybill is issued by a freight forwarder or consolidator on " house" letterhead to individual shippers as a receipt for their cargo in lieu of the master Air Waybill issued to the consolidator for the complete cargo. Unless stipulated, such documents are not normally accepted under the terms of a documentary letter of credit.
A packing list is a document issued by the exporter providing the buyer with the details of the contents of each individual package together with dimensions, cubic measurement and net and gross weights.
This is a document issued by state chambers and Industry Groups. It provides certification that the goods to be exported are of the country of origin that they claim to be. The TridentGLOBAL export documentation software can send and receive the Certificate of Origin electronically using ecert.
eCert is the technology developed by eCertify to electronically stamp and sign export certificates, eliminating the need for physical authorisation. The certificate is sent electronically through the TridentGLOBAL export management software solution and returned via eCert from your authorising body. eCert reduces the time and costs for exporters to stamp and sign their export certificates.
